Strategic Projects to support the SCP Focus Areas
To direct the efforts of the Shire in achieving the aspirations, goals and outcomes of the Shire's Strategic Community Plan has identified Strategic Projects that will be listed in the SCP.
Focus Area 1 - Liveability
1. Community Safety Plan
Develop and implement a Community Safety Plan to prioritise and coordinate the efforts of different stakeholders to improve community safety.
2. Kununurra Leisure Centre
The refurbishment and upgrade of the Kununurra Leisure Centre to create a regional sport and leisure centre.
3. Wyndham Civic/Leisure Centre
Develop an integrated civic centre to include swimming pool, youth and recreation space, emergency centre, library and Shire administration centre.
4. Economic Development Strategy
An Economic Development Strategy can play a crucial role in addressing community issues relating to education, employment, and housing in a local government. The strategy provides a roadmap to attract new businesses to an area or develop existing ones, which can create job opportunities and boost the local economy. The resulting economic growth can also help to address issues such as education and housing by increasing resources available for public services and improving the quality of life for residents. Furthermore, the strategy can be designed to include measures that reinforce positive impact on the community's issues by balancing economic growth with affordability, job training programs and strategies for providing affordable housing. Overall, an Economic Development Strategy designed in a collaborative and inclusive approach can help local government address key issues of residents' well-being effectively.

5. East Kimberley Regional Airport (EKRA) Master-plan
The East Kimberley Regional Airport (EKRA) Master-plan is a strategic document that outlines the vision, objectives and actions for the development and management of the airport over the next 20 years. The Master-plan aims to balance the needs and expectations of various stakeholders, including the airport operator, airlines, passengers, businesses, tourism operators, local communities and government agencies. The Master-plan also considers the environmental, social and economic impacts of the airport operations and growth. The Master-plan is based on a comprehensive analysis of the current and future demand for air services in the region, as well as the existing and potential capacity and constraints of the airport infrastructure and facilities. The Master-plan identifies a range of projects and initiatives to enhance the safety, efficiency, sustainability and resilience of the airport, as well as to improve the customer experience and regional connectivity. The Master-plan is reviewed and updated every five years to reflect changing circumstances and priorities.
6. Strategic Resource Plan
A local government's strategic resource plan, which integrates financial, asset and human resource management, offers many benefits. Such a plan can help Shire Officers to make better-informed decisions based on data-driven insights and a clear framework, leading to better resource allocation, improved accountability and transparency in decision-making, resilience and sustainability for long-term planning, and a more comprehensive view of resource availability. Additionally, integration of different resource management systems like finances, assets, and human resources offers a more coordinated and efficient use of resources and helps to ensure that Shire services meet the needs of the community in a cost effective, sustainable manner.
7. Art and Culture Plan
The Arts and Culture Strategy is a document that is identified in Council Policy Community Development as an informing strategy. The Strategy will set out the actions for supporting and promoting arts and culture in the community. The strategy aims to enhance the quality of life,
social cohesion and economic development of the Shire by fostering a vibrant and diverse cultural sector. The strategy will also identify the roles and responsibilities of the Shire and its partners in delivering arts and culture initiatives and programs.

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is committed to implementing a sustainable and effective waste management strategy that minimises the environmental and social impacts of waste generation and disposal. The strategy aims to achieve the following objectives:
10. Partnership and Innovation Strategy
This strategy would be centred around building meaningful partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders, while also promoting innovation and creativity in all aspects of the Shire's operations and public services. The proposed title would be the Partnership and Innovation
Strategy.
Community highlighted Goal 10, Community-driven leadership, as an important area with limited visible strategic direction or planning and asked for the inclusion of a strategic project. The development of a combined strategy that provided a holistic and integrated approach that
recognises the importance of building strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive innovation and positive change in the Shire.
The Partnership and Innovation Strategy would include the following elements aligned with the Goal 10 of the draft SCP:
1. Community Safety Plan
